Like OCR said... if you have a studded track, you are gonna need longer ones.

I have 144 studs in my track and was told I needed at least a 6" carbide, so I went with an 8". Works wonderful and only a single blade. If you go with a short carbide with alot of studs, your front end will just slide when trying to turn. If you only have 96 studs I would go with a 6" but might be able to get away with 4". If you put to long of a carbide on and don't have the traction... your ass end will slide alot.

If you have no studs, put in a 4".

Just my .02

Yea... I would guess that you probably wouldn't notice a diff between 4" and 6" with no studs.

I had 6" on my sled when I first put studs in and then when I put in the 8" Holy SH!T there was a diff. After turning with the 8", I can say now...that I couldn't steer for nothing with the 6"

Just my opinion.

Ok, so for us Mountain guys that have a 162 inch x 2.5 inch lug track, should we use like 12 inch carbides?

I have never really thought about this, and I have always complained about the turning on a lot of my sleds... I want to go with a new ski, but that's a thought for a different thread...

(note to self... start new ski thread)...

any thoughts on carbides here?

Actually, when I changed to the 1" lug, I noticed a huge difference. THe 4" would not turn as well, changed to the 6", It's like it's on rails again. The original track was 1/2" lug.

I am not real sure about mountain sleds being that you do alot of powder riding...but I bet a 10" on your ski's with the track you have sledd'n daddy will be really good for you when you do hit the hard pack trail like you stated in the other thread. Like I said before... I have 144 studs and get alot of push > went with the 8" and will never go below that again. Turns on a dime!

Hope this helps

I have 96 studs now with 6" duals and it truns fine but they are expensive to replace. I was going to with 8" singles. But i don't want to have a darting problem or will it matter with a single or duals.
