What is small hose on top of oil reservoir?

Hello everyone!

I have a 2000 Arctic Cat 500 ZL.

Can anyone tell me what the small, short plastic hose is that is attached to the top of the oil reservoir/tank near the back? More importantly, is it supposed to be attached to anything? (I was in there messing around).

I am hoping it is just an air breather or something, cause that hose is just hanging loose of my oil reservoir, and I can't see what it would attach to...hmmmm.

If you need further information, I see 3 things on top of my oil reservoir:

-the hole where I pour the oil in
-Another plastic cap with wires running to it, I believe it is for the oil gauge?
-and then this small hose I am asking about at the back

Thanks so much for you help!

Chad
