Animals you have come across...

To start this off... I have never been out west and don't know much about it, but I was wondering... While out riding, what kind of animals do you see in the mountains, and how close have you been to them? I don't mean squirrels and stuff like that! Doesn't necessarly have to snowmobiling. When out fourwheeling, dirt biking, hell even out hiking!

The reason I ask is because 2 years ago I was in Christmas MI, and stopped to leak in a little trail that vered off the main trail when I looked to my right and about 70 yards away a wolf come out of the trees and looked right at me. Thought it was pretty cool. That wolf was BIG!!!

Anyone have some stories to share?

We see a lot of everything year-round, but some of the real cool one's that I have seen are, a Black Bear, a one time just out hiking with my brother many years ago, we saw 2 Elk Rutting and fighting... it was really cool and VERY LOUD to sit and watch these two ram antlers together... he might could tell you more about it.. I was pretty young when we saw that, was probably over 20 years ago. I know I was only about 12 or 13 when that happened.

But we see at least once a year, a mountain lion, elk, moose, deer, and in the late spring early summer is when the bear are active.

Last year we saw a moose jump right onto the trail. We were probably 20 yards away. It is amazing how quick they can move through the snow.

I have hit a deer, and so has my friend, except he blacked out after he hit his.

I have also seen a freind run over a bird (it was under the snow) and it flew out from under his track after he was over it.

I Live in northern WI, so I see more deer than I can count, I am to the point where I try to hit them in my truck, but havent gotten one yet.

Hit one in your truck... you hunt just like my buddy does. Unlike most people who see a deer, he will speed up and try to get them. He has suceeded once but failed many.

Good luck. What kind of bird buries itself in snow???

A "SnowBird"!

HAHAHAH...

The other animal I have seen in the past but they are few and far between are the elusive and hard to catch SnowBunny.

I have seen them before, but not very often... I'd like to see more of them though!

(Sorry, I had to do this post... I'm leaving for Sunny San Diego on Monday for vacation and have checked out of work... at least mentally...)
