Yamaha announces factory snocross team

Pro Steve Taylor and Semi Pro Cory Davis to campaign FX Nytro

Yamaha announced the Yamaha factory snocross team for the coming 2007-08 season, signing pro racer Steve Taylor and semi pro racer Cory Davis. “I’m excited to have these two talented riders campaigning FX Nytro race sleds on the WPSA National snocross circuit,” said Yamaha Race Manager Greg Marier, “We are looking forward to a great season”.

Prince George, British Columbia, native Steve Taylor has some experience on the FX Nytro already, having worked behind the scenes on the testing and development team last season. “I have about a million laps on the sled already this spring,” he said. “The low end torque from the four stroke engine is amazing. It’s awesome in the technical, rhythm sections.”

“Steve is a very smooth, finesse rider who is very creative in finding the fast lines on the race track,” said Marier. “Give him the holeshot and he’s a tough racer to beat. With the power of our 4-stroke and Steve’s drive to win, we are expecting great results from Steve on our FXNytro race sled this season.”

Cory Davis, hailing from Soldotna, Alaska, is equally excited to be aboard the 4-stroke Yamaha race sled this season. “When I first sat on the sled, I felt immediately comfortable,” he said. “The ergonomics and handling of the FX Nytro makes the sled feel super nimble, plus the engine has a lot of power.”

“We really liked what we saw in Cory on his way to win the WPSA National Semi pro Open championship last season, and watching him ride the Yamaha prototype race sled this spring was really amazing” said Marier. “Cory won the Semi-Pro Open Champion last year at age 18 and he will be back to defend his title on the FX Nytro 4-Stroke. He has the talent and determination to battle for the win every time he is on the track.

Yamaha’s snocross program will continue to serve as an advanced R & D program to lead future FXNytro development. “We will continue to prove our 4-stroke performance direction by competing head-on in the WPSA National snocross race circuit” concluded Marier. “Having a top Pro and Semi Pro riders on the track every weekend not only gives our fans added incentive to come to the races, but it also increases our product development opportunities.”

I'm so happy to see Yamaha back in the SnoX arena... it's been too long. I think they can really cause a stir with the 4-stroke sleds and that Phazer style sled.

Go Yamaha!!!

phazers are the most underpowered sleds ever, they need at least twice that hp to make them woth anything.

Oh, I agree 100% that the Phazer is underpowered, my brother and I rode some at a Yamaha Factory ride last year, and it was only about 52 mph was the max speed we could get them up to... they are more of a playing, boondocking, type sled, definately not a speed sled... now,
if you take the new Nytro, that's going to be a different story, it's lighter with a better motor, and I think if I remember right, you can get a factory Turbo on them... I've never really looked into them, so I don't know on that.

Anyway, either way, it's going to be really nice to watch some SnoX this season with a couple Yamaha trailers in the bunch!!
