Need help customizing trailer! Sticker problems!

Alright... first off, Thanks for looking and any help given will be very useful.

I have a Bear cat top on my floe trailer. It is a 1996. I want to put stickers on it but the aluminum has that weird texture/surface that is bumpy, and sticker will not seal properly. I am thinking I need some plastic plates of some sort to pop rivet on and then stick the sticker/decal on that.

Where would I find black platic plates? Any help would be awesome.

Thanks in advance! Doo02

Even alumineum plates would work as long as they are smooth.

use an angle grinder to smooth out where you want the stickers

Not a good idea, the aluminum is stamped that way. Thinner sheets with bumps is stronger than a flat sheet of the same thickness. This is a weight saving measure

I was thinking the same thing. When I read the post about the grinding, I was a little confused being that if I grinded the bumps flat, I would have tiny holes all over. I was gonna reply back and tell justbrocknit that but I couldn't think of the right word. "STAMPED"

All I could think of is printed!

I am not sure what I am gonna use. I started the same thread in dootalk.com and they came up with plexiglass, paint the backside black to match trailer and pop rivet onto side wall and apply sticker to that. Good idea I think.

Thats what I was gonna say. Plexi is fairly cheap too. Just cut it to the size of the sticker, paint it and rivet!
make sure you either use aluminum rivets with your aluminum trailer, or coat them really good with clear silicone before you stick them in the hole so that 1-you do not get corrosion between the metals(I think it's called "galvanic corrosion"), and 2-moisture will not seep thru.

Thanks Xtreme! Never thought about that. Yea I do not want corrosion between the 2 metals.

As far as the moisture... I am actually putting vents(with screen backing) on side of trailer near the top. So moisture will find its way in regardless. O well. Reason for vents is... I actually had a decal bubble on my windshield because the heat was so high inside my trailer. Once the heat gets in... there is no way for it to excape... that is what the vents will be for. Screen is so no bee's or wasp can make new condo's in there!!! ha ha

Thanks again. Doo02
